So I know I have written about COTN's Widows Program in the past and even posted a video I made on HERE. So I definitely have a soft spot for this program and when we were asked if we wanted to host a table at a conference and sell some of their products I was delighted!!
This past Saturday Peter and I set up shop for Children of the Nations at a nursing conference in Bremerton. The display was pretty impressive -Peter and I didn't have anything to do with that! And it actually attracted quite a few visitors. We had information about Children of the Nations along with merchandise to purchase! We were selling big bags, small bags, aprons and coin purses that the women in the Widows Program in Malawi had made, along with aprons that people at the skills center in Sierra Leone had made.
People loved the bright colors and the labor of love that went into each product. When all was said and done we sold nearly $400 worth of merchandise, which will just get funneled back into the programs. But truly thats $400 more than we had the day before!! But I couldn't help but think about the women that I met this past May and wish they were there with me. I wish the Widows could have heard the women ranting and raving about their handmade products. I wish the Widows could have seen a woman wearing one of their bags! I wish they had been there…and in a way they were there. Their spirits had traveled all the way from Malawi and they were present in the handmade touches of their bags.
Let me know if you are interested in purchasing anything!! All the proceeds go to the women and the program. And also click HERE if you are interested in learning more about the program and donating to the program itself!
