Peter has been slaving away in the yard recently getting the soil prepared for the new and improved vegetable patch.
This is what it looked like before - with the BIG bush in the background and the old, distorted wood.
And...THIS is what it looks like now! Bush be gone and new and improved wood. And check out our gigantic wood pile!
Notice the new L - shape. And the beets that are growing in the box.
And we have been making use of our compost as well - note the darker soil. And if you look close enough you may even see some eggshells!
We have recently harvested our beets - 5 of them in fact, and there is more where they came from! Peter doused them in olive oil and some spices and popped them in the oven. Now, I am not a HUGE beet fan, but Peter devoured those things, which I was so happy to see, but he was peeing red stuff for days as a consequence.

We still broccoli (on left side of box) and carrots (on right side of box). We love this kind of stuff - can you tell? Simple pleasures - that is what life is all about isn't it?
