Innocence Project.

While watching the film Conviction (I will post movie thoughts later) I was once again reminded of an organization called the Innocence Project.  I think I first heard about this project during my graduate program, and I am imagining they were mentioned in one of my school readings about justice simply because they are an organization that truly seeks justice for the wrongfully convicted.

According to the website, the Innocence Project is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.  And this is exactly what they did for Kenny Waters (the man Conviction is based on) - they exonerated him.

It will forever blow my mind that so many men/women are convicted for a crime they did NOT commit.  Imagine how this would change your life...and forever transform your character and your future.  Imagine the anger and resentment you would have toward the justice system and toward the ones who convicted you.  Imagine all the years lost, the relationships broken, the sides taken.  Imagine who would believe you when the cards seemed stacked against you.  Imagine who would believe IN you.  Imagine who would stand by you through the moments of turmoil and chaos.  And then imagine being convicted for years for something you did not to...and then imagine being set free.  What would your life be like after years of being confined in a cell?  What would you do with this new found freedom?

this is a video about the organization.

These are all videos about men who were wrongfully convicted and exonerated by the Innocence Project!
