About Us.

Hi.  I'm Malia and this is my blog!  Well, actually, it was suppose to be OUR blog, hence the About US, but let's be honest I do most of the posting!  Peter is my husband and I am trying to get him to post on here more often because he is funny and a great writer - so if you have any tips for convincing the man please let me know!

So Peter and I first met in Ireland the summer of 2004 when I was there for a two month mission trip.  He was Irish and I was American.  He was 23 and I was 21.  We lived in two separate countries, on two separate continents, nevertheless I was captivated and extremely intrigued.  But I had a boyfriend at the time...a boyfriend I had had for over a year, a boyfriend that I continued to date for another year after meeting Peter.

July 2004 - lovely huh?  OH the younger years!
So Peter and I kept in touch after our first year of meeting, and then he decided to move to Seattle to work as an intern at University Presbyterian Church, and I still had a boyfriend people!  But Peter was patient and so very persistent.  So October 2005 - the boyfriend and I called it quits, and in December 2005 I remember telling one of my dearest friends that I was going to marry Peter, but I just wasn't ready to jump into another relationship ...at least not yet.

So then I decided to move to Ireland after I graduated from UW and Peter and I ended up working at the same church.  And I arrived in Ireland healed and ready to love him deeply.  So our journey of love officially began on August 15, 2006.

We spent our first year together in Ireland, moved back to Seattle in 2007, and traveled to Ireland June 2008 where the man proposed on the North Coast of Ireland.  You can read the proposal story HERE - I think that may have been Peter's one and only post!!

We were engaged for a little TOO long if you ask me...but who really cares when all ends well.  And we got some super cute engagement photos out of the deal, courtesy of Kristen Honeycutt.

We were married on August 15, 2009, which was our 3 year anniversary.  So I figured it would be easy for Peter to remember right??  Gosh...it has been such a LONG journey, but a blessed one nonetheless.  And I love this man even more today than I did on our wedding day!  He is such a blessing to me and I am so very thankful I met him all those years ago.

So this blog first began as a wedding blog.  Peter created it as a way for those near and far to keep up to date with the latest happenings in our lives.  We wanted people to be able to journey with us through taste testings, venue options, dress decisions, vow choices, music selections, etc. etc.

And over time this blog has evolved into so much more than a wedding blog.  This blog has become my outlet, my voice.  This blog has become a beautiful place where we can share ourselves, our love, our marriage, our lives in all it's muckiness and glory.

We are two people who long to love deeply.  We are inspired by faith and love, justice and mercy and seeking wholeness in a broken world. We long to be real, raw and vulnerable and seek to live life to the full by holding nothing back. Our hope is that our journey through life and marriage in all its messiness, validates and inspires yours.

And lastly, we hope this blog encourages you and brightens your day! Please feel free to leave us comments and requests.  Welcome!  We are so happy you are here.
