Bless the Lord...

Bless the Lord oh My soul...I love this song so much and thought I would share it with all of you!!  I never grow tired of it, and truly listen to it on repeat.  I just love the words and I get so excited every time we sing it at church.  The bulk of the post is below the lyrics...so read on for my latest insights.

10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)

[Chorus]
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

[Chorus]

You're rich in love, and You're slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

[Chorus]

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

[Chorus x2]

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, I'll worship your Holy name!  As I sit here in our little guy's hospital room, I can't help but be thankful for this time that we have with him - for each and every day that he is alive, thriving and well, even if he is at the hospital and not home with us.  And whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me, I hope and pray that I'm singing when the evening comes and that my soul will praise the Lord throughout these circumstances.

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, I'll worship your Holy name!  Each and every day is precious to us - Each day he makes progress and each day our hearts soar with pride for our little guy.  I can only imagine how the Lord feels about each and every one of us.  My heart swells with love for this little being - imagine how the Lord's heart swells with love for us.  I yearn for our little bug to know the Lord just as the Lord yearns for each of us to know Him.  Truly though, children are little miracles and they are tenacious, and it's all too miraculous and perfect to not believe in a Creator (or so I think).

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, I'll worship your Holy name! Today, I feel blessed, so abundantly blessed by the Lord. Father, I worship you, I praise you, even amidst all that is going on in our lives.  I thank you for the hope and the joy that comes from You and through You.  I pray that our lives bring honor and glory to you and that we continue to praise you even amidst the darkest of circumstances.  I pray that we continue to worship your Holy Name.  I pray that you prepare our hearts to be the parents to Jack that you long for us to be, and I pray that our little buddy comes to know You and that he has a relationship with You, as that is one of our deepest longings.  I thank You from the bottom of my heart for this beautiful opportunity to be a mom.

So I ask that you join Peter and I in praying for Little Buddy?  We have been praying for this little bug before God even created him and we will continue to pray for him throughout his life.  And let's be honest, it's never too early to start praying for your kids ...right?

And tonight, when you are tucking your babies into bed (that is if you have babies) will you lay your hands on them and pray for them, for their bodies, their souls, and their minds and be thankful for their safety, for their joy, for their love even amidst the chaos they may bring into your life??

Sending so much love and joy your way,

Malia

  1. I heard a story thru a friend about a 3-yr-old and her newborn sister. With the newborn sleeping in her crib, the 3-yr-old crept into the room and talked to her sister while her parent's overheard the conversation via baby monitor. The older sister said to the newborn, "sister, tell me about God - I am starting to forget." As you think about teaching Little Buddy about God, just know he already knows, he has the most recent experience, radiates God and, more importantly, little buddy will be the one who teaches YOU about God.
