We bought tickets to go to Ireland for Christmas back in March of this year, and we got a sweet deal on the tickets, and we were so excited! And then we found out we were pregnant sometime in June, and don't get me wrong, we were excited about that, but I couldn't help but wonder what was going to happen to those Ireland tickets. And if I'm honest, I was kind of sad. Were we going to be able to stick to our original plan and go to Ireland for Christmas? Or were we going to have to get a refund on the tickets? Or were we going to have to go at a different time?
Anyhow, we had to wait to make the call....we had to wait to hear from the midwives, the doctor, all the professionals for them to give us the go ahead and they couldn't be 100% certain until I reached a certain stage in my pregnancy. Well let's just say the suspense was killing me and Peter kept talking as if there was a chance we might NOT go to Ireland and I kept talking like we were for SURE going to Ireland - made for interesting conversations with people when they asked us our Christmas plans.
And finally after so many weeks of waiting, we finally got the go ahead. But the doctor did state, "It's not going to be the trip you envisioned it would be." And I chuckled, and said, "Trust me, I know!" And if I'm honest, I have already grieved a little and shed a few tears, probably because I'm imagining I am going to be extremely uncomfortable and the flights are going to be really long and interesting, but I am so excited to be boarding a plane in a month to see family and everything else is worth it! Plus, this is going to be the Drennan's first little buddy encounter. Well it will be Stuart's (Peter's youngest brother's second) considering he is coming to visit TOMORROW!
So we will be in Ireland for Christmas and for a few weeks after and I am truly counting down the days until we depart. Last time we were in Ireland for Christmas it snowed...ALOT! Wonder if it will do that this time around? Guess we shall wait and see!
Things I am looking forward to...
Finally getting to travel WITH Peter! I love traveling with that man, there isn't anything sweeter than an adventure and one with my husband is just the best! We travel really well together, but this time will be interesting and funny and probably slightly amusing.
Seeing family - in-laws, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.
Going to the Christmas market - everything about it just feels like Christmas!
Spending quality time with friends!
Laughter and so much love at the Drennan household!
And much, much more!! I love this place and I can't wait to share this place with Little Buddy! Crazy to think this will be LB's third plane ride in the womb.
xoxo,
Malia
