Ryan Alexander: Eight Months

 Ryan by month 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 //

This picture is just so true to who you are! You weren't all that happy when I was doing your photo shoot - in fact, you shed a few tears because you just wanted to go to sleep, and mama's agenda was interfering with that. (If you scroll down on the post, you'll actually get a brief glimpse of Ryan's sad face!) Truly, we don't see it that often, and as you can see, it's very short lived. I can't even believe you have already passed the 8 month mark. The time is just flying! So much happens in that first year, it's hard for me to keep track of it all.

Growing // You probably weigh around 19 lbs? I suppose I could weigh you and confirm that, but I'm guessing I'm fairly accurate. I'm sure your head is still large for your age, but the back isn't nearly as flat as it use to be!!

Eating + sleeping //  You are breastfeeding a little less during the day and that's probably because of the increase in your solid food intake, but not much less. You LOVE to eat! You pretty much eat anything and everything. I've given you butternut squash, carrots, spinach, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, avacadoes, nectarines, and broccoli. My favorite thing though is to give it to you in your nuby thing so you can feed yourself. I freeze the food in ice cube trays and then cut up the cubes and put them in your nubby thing - serves as a teething toy and you also get to feed yourself!!

You love to sleep on your side!! It's the cutest thing! I lay you on your back at night and you just roll on over to your side. You are doing 3 naps a day - one in the morning around 830, another one in the afternoon around the same time as Jack's and another in the late afternoon around 330 or something, and you are normally in bed asleep by 7 and awake by 7.  You still wake up about 3 times in the night, no long sleep stretches for you ...or me for that matter.

Wearing // You are wearing mostly 9 month items. Grandma bought a few 6 month things recently, and I'm squeezing you into them! And you are still wearing size 3 diapers.

Loving // You love laughing and giggling and peek a boo and bouncing on the bed and tummy time and bath time - you could probably sit in the bath for ages as you rest against your duckie munchkin bath and suck on the washcloth or the toys! You LOVE bouncing in your jumper and you could sit in that seat and just bounce for hours. I am not exaggerating! Also, when you wake up in the morning you are just all smiles, kicking your legs and talking to yourself. And you love being tickled! You love to put everything in your mouth. And I mean EVERYTHING! You sit in your little seat and put your arms out and start sweeping the table for the items that are within reach and you just grab anything and everything that's on the table in hopes of getting it into your mouth. You LOVE to touch our faces! And you are loving your little rubber pacifier, especially when you're sleepy. Jack was never interested in those things, so it's strange to me that you find it so soothing. But you are VERY particular, and only like that one pacifier. What else? You love scratching your fingers on the wall in your crib or on the side of your pack n play ...you just love the noise it makes. You love to pull on my hair when I feed you and touch my face.

Loathing // Honestly, I have no idea what you don't like. You don't even mind the bath and when I wash your hair! But you really don't like when your brother sits on you or when he smacks your face or when he says no feed rye guy and tries to push your head away.

Doing // If we lay you on your tummy, you scoot backwards. It's pretty funny to watch! Still sitting up like a champ. Bouncing in your bouncer. Feeding yourself. At the beginning of 7 months you started talking ALOT! So much babbling. Sometimes your babbling is so loud, especially in the car, that your dad and I can hardly have a conversation. It's so funny! You love interacting with us and you love when people talk to you. You just smile and giggle. And you just light up when your brother enters into a room. You had just a teeny bit of stranger danger a few weeks ago when we went to visit guppy and tutu and I passed you off to tutu, but once you realized that mama wasn't going anywhere you were fine. Again, it was very shortlived. And you are clapping! It's so cute.

Milestones // You started saying dadada. And you have four teeth - two on top, two on bottom, and another one coming in! You went on your first camping trip - Jack hasn't even done this yet. You visited both your great grandmas this month. You went on a swing for the first time. You aren't crawling but you are scooting around on your belly. You hardly roll over now when we put you on your stomach..you just want to attempt to move around.
